Di Natale recalled for provisional Italy squad

Udinese Calcio striker Antonio Di Natale, not capped since the 2010 FIFA World Cup, has been named in Cesare Prandelli’s provisional 32-man Italy squad for UEFA EURO 2012.

England without Wilshere for EUROs

Arsène Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere has been ruled out for the rest of Arsenal FC’s season and will not be fit to represent England at UEFA EURO 2012 this summer.

The midfielder, 20, has been out of competitive action since first sustaining a stress fracture to his right ankle during England’s 2-2 UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying draw with Switzerland on 4 June. He further aggravated the situation during a friendly in July, and although he has since had surgery, Wenger admitted that Wilshere is making slow progress in his recovery.

England defender Smalling sidelined for EURO

England’s Chris Smalling is out of UEFA EURO 2012 after sustaining a groin injury while playing for Manchester United FC in their penultimate match of the Premier League campaign last weekend.

The defender, who started and finished United’s 2-0 victory against Swansea City AFC, was initially expected to be fit for Sunday’s league trip to Sunderland AFC, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed on Friday that the problem is worse than first anticipated and sufficiently serious to sideline the 22-year-old for England’s excursion to Poland and Ukraine.

Hyundai-Kia unveil UEFA EURO 2012 fleet

Hyundai-Kia have handed over the keys to the fleet of vehicles which will transport teams, guests and officials at UEFA EURO 2012, including the 16 team coaches.

A total of 366 Hyundai vehicles and over 350 more from sister company Kia will be deployed in Poland and Ukraine, with Hyundai Motor Europe president Terry Im delighted to be involved. “Football conveys dynamism, excitement and passion,” he said. “These are precisely the emotions that Hyundai wants to share with our customers.” Benny Oeyen, marketing vice president of Kia Motors Europe, explained: “Kia Motors is a proud supporter of football and we are excited to play an integral role in the successful coordination of EURO 2012.”

Hyundai-Kia are the official automotive sponsors of UEFA EURO 2012, and have been UEFA European Championship sponsors since the 2000 tournament. The company will also be sponsors of the 2014, 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups.
